About My Practice
I keep the practice small and personal in order to be available and responsive to the special needs of each patient. I understand that psychotherapy can be a difficult step and I respect the trust patients place in me when they bring personal concerns to my office. Confidentiality and trust are priorities.
With 28 years of experience in a variety of settings (universities, hospitals, community agencies, private practice) I have a wide range of knowledge to draw upon in our work together. I use the proven approach of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy as the cornerstone of my work, and add to that from other approaches depending on the needs of the individual. Your work with me might include, for example: stress management, assertiveness training, communication skills, meditation, interpersonal therapy, spirituality, body image, anger management, conflict resolution, or relationship building.
Behavioral medicine and health psychology are sub-specialties within my practice. That is, some of my work focuses on the psychological components of physical health, and chronic or serious illness. In developing a treatment plan I keep in mind that physical health is affected by mental health and vice versa. Heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are all influenced by behavior. I may work with your primary care physician and specialists to prevent diseases and improve outcomes.
Please phone to discuss your interest in therapy. I do not have anyone else answering my phone, so please leave a message so I can return your call.
